Earmarked for succession planning, this growth role shall begin as Director of Operations and will quickly evolve into General Manager with full P&L responsibility for the company.

Capable of providing a full suite of logistics services such as road, rail, air and ocean transportation, currently the focus is on ground freight brokerage, with a special emphasis on transborder freight movements.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

As the successful candidate, you will be both an accomplished leader and an expert in the logistics field. While operational expertise is paramount as is strong leadership qualities, one must also possess the ability to perform well in front of the client. In a senior management role, such as this, client facing activities are a big part of the job and a certain amount of sales acumen is required!

Your expertise can be broad but must, above all else, be highly developed within ground freight brokerage. The current business mix, albeit expanding rapidly, is predominantly ground focused, including transborder (both northbound and southbound), domestic USA and domestic Canada. Obviously excellent, pre-existing understanding of and relationships with the Carriers will be an extremely important asset as you embark upon the ever important and ongoing pursuit of Carrier selection, negotiation and management.

Given the inevitable responsibility for the full P&L, financial acumen and experience with same will also be a key consideration.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The successful candidate will be in charge of the company and will supervise a team whose responsibilities include seeking and negotiating rates with carriers; preparing and submitting bids for new business; accepting and processing customer orders and providing rate quotes; assisting customers with shipment status and exception information; receiving and handling customer complaints; and liaising with carriers to anticipate and address issues.   A deep understanding of ROAD freight forwarding all over North America, solid relationships in the freight forwarding industry and a history of successful personnel management will be required in order to succeed in this role.

COMPENSATION: 

Comprehensive and competitive compensation plan, commensurate with experience including base, bonus eligibility and benefits.

EDUCATION: 

-University Degree in logistics or business management would be considered an asset.
-Post-graduate education an asset.
-CCLP, CIFFA, CITT certification would be considered an asset.
