THE OPPORTUNITY:

They are currently in need of an experienced Industrial Engineer with automotive parts manufacturing experience to assist their team with ongoing improvements and efficiencies in their manufacturing operations.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Industrial Engineer will be a part of the Manufacturing Engineering team, contributing to the design and launch of company products. Your mandate will include optimizing processes that match the tooling, equipment, and facility, as well as providing efficient, cost-effective production lines. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with platform team members to develop and implement new product costs, layouts, flow charts, assembly equipment, work instructions, operator training, etc.
  • Estimate mould and assembly costs (hrs/pc)
  • Develop standard data utilizing stop watch, M.T.M. and/or M.O.S.T. methods analysis, and standard evaluations
  • Maintain and update ergonomic standards on equipment and workplace layouts
  • Participate in design reviews, “lessons learned,” and design and process F.M.E.A.
  • Review facility utilization (i.e. presses, welders, leak testers, etc.) with Manufacturing to establish capacity and capital requirements
  • Develop packaging for both purchased parts and finished goods.
  • Set up new components in system and revise Bill of Material
  • Adhere to PCP/PDP procedures and complete all documentation in a timely manner
  • Identify and implement cost reduction ideas
  • Review all team-initiated cost savings and document actual vs. planned savings on a regular basis

EXPERIENCE: In order to be COMPETITIVE for this position, you will have:

At least 5 years’ experience as an Industrial /engineer in an automotive parts manufacturing setting:

  • The ability to read and understand engineering drawings including GD&T;
  • Working knowledge of QS9000, ISO14001 and TS16949 standards;
  • Experience with facility planning and line balancing principles;
  • M.T.M. Blue Card holder &/or proficiency in M.O.S.T. work measurements systems;
  • Excellent fluency in English;
  • Canadian citizenship or Permanent Resident Status.

COMPENSATION:

Salary range $65-75,000, plus comprehensive benefits package

EDUCATION:

Degree in Industrial Engineering is mandatory.
