THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

The Branch Manager is responsible for the station’s success in contributing to the achievement of company goals and objectives. This individual plays an important role in expanding business & maintaining the smooth and efficient operations of their business unit. The Manager is responsible for all of the different aspects of air, ocean and distribution operations within the Vancouver Branch.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Build, lead and streamline the Branch Operations and Customer Service Teams by improving and controlling the operative procedures, process mapping, negotiating rates, and maintaining customer relations.
  • Ensure that operations run smoothly and according to company policy for all freight and distribution business, both international and domestic.
  • Ensure that vendors and suppliers are properly monitored and compensated and continue to meet the needs of the company.
  • Responsible for the hiring, coaching and training of suitable team members. Ensure that employees are working in their assigned areas to provide adequate coverage for all processes which may include task delegation and follow up.
  • Lead and motivate teams to achieve departmental goals, provide feedback, evaluate and manage the performance of employees, conduct annual evaluations
  • Support sales & customer service activity.  Ensure that marketing strategies are successfully implemented and contributing to the revenue and profits of the company.
  • Ensure that administrative services like paperwork and payroll matters are completed and addressed within deadlines, including accurate compilation and presentation of reports.
  • Maintain professional and proactive communication with all department staff, internal and external customers.
  • Provide advice on maintaining and improving cost effective ways to handle freight files, and make the job more efficient.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors & suppliers.
  • Maintain high levels of Customer Service, maintain integrity in the operation and effect a smooth running station.
  • Strategy and planning – including the development of operational strategies based on financial budgets.

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • Minimum 10 years of previous experience in 3PL Logistics with 5 years experience in Supervisory/management role
  • Good leadership skills with the ability to motivate the team
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong customer service skills and detail oriented.
  • Understanding of all modes of freight requirements and practices
  • Good networking and interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, organize and prioritize work load in order to meet numerous deadlines.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Computer skills; Microsoft office, email, internet explorer, etc. and ability to learn proprietary business software applications 

COMPENSATION:

Competitive salary along with bonus eligibility plus company car.

EDUCATION:

  • College or university degree in business or commerce and/or combination of education and experience
  • Industry related certifications, (DG, CIFFA, CITT, CSCB) an asset
