THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

Our client is seeking an outgoing, motivated professional to manage and direct, from quote to delivery, the export air and ocean freight team in their Hanover office. This person is responsible for efficient, timely, and cost-effective routing, movement, and management of international air and ocean freight. Attention to detail and willingness to learn are essential qualities. Candidates must be accepting and comfortable with different cultures and be willing to work with individuals who may possess limited English language skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct, active interaction with assigned export team to ensure awareness of all activities and taking a lead role in problem resolution. Ensure the assigned export team is working effectively, clients are responded to quickly, and processes are being followed. Manage workload and distribution of tasks, shipments for HQ and remote export staff members.
  • Responsible for staff motivation, departmental communication, annual reviews and mentoring.
  • Active participation in interviewing, hiring, and firing process. Manage and assist with initial and ongoing training of new team hires as well as continuing education for existing team members.
  • Develop measurable statistics and goals that can be presented to team and management.
  • Resolution of any service issues, feedback from/to ops/sales including reviewing/initiating CARS. Review of all new SOPS, training updates and/or process improvements
  • Technical assistance for account executives. Active participation in sales/management meetings to help develop sales and keep the flow between operation/sales open.
  • Vendor management including rate/contract negotiation.
  • Hands-on file handling and customer service including quoting and documentation.
  • Monitor export shipments for adherence to department standard operating procedures (SOPs). Conduct export team shipment audits and AES filing audits.
  • Review, analyze, and enhance current Priority SOPs
  • Prepare, review, and present monthly departmental statistics.
  • Assist Director of Operations and Director of Compliance as needed for any issues related to export compliance
  • Member of the after-hours on-call team after on boarding completion

PRE-REQUISITES:

  • Must possess 7+ years of industry experience

COMPENSATION:

Competitive and comprehensive compensation plan, commensurate with base and bonus eligibility.
