THE OPPORTUNITY:

Seeking an Assistant Superintendent to become part of the Power & Recovery Team. The successful candidate will be a person for the lifestyle of the area – great hunting, fishing, camping and outdoor actives are available. This is a company that values its employees for the long-term. This role is a succession role for a future retirement and would preferably be filled by a loyal candidate looking to partner with the company in a similar fashion.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Power & Recovery Superintendent, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Steam Plant Area including all mill utilities such as air, water, steam and electricity. You will directly assist in the Recovery Area including once black liquor recovery boiler along with a black liquor evaporating system and associated auxiliary equipment as required. 

You must be willing to provide effective leadership for Shift Engineers and operating crews by establishing and managing systems to track operating centerlines and targets; coordinate and prioritize maintenance requirements for shut downs and daily work; establish and communicate effective Standard Operating Procedures and ensure operator training requirements are met. 

EXPERIENCE: In order to be COMPETITIVE for this position, you will have:

  • Minimum 2nd Class Operating Engineer’s Certificate valid in the province of Ontario
  • Five (5) years minimum experience with steam plant operations
  • Five (5) years minimum experience with kraft recovery process
  • Experience with both Black liquor recovery boilers and black liquor evaporating systems
  • Ability to lead safety improvements through personal commitment and procedures
  • Oversee safe and efficient operation all mill utilities such as air, water, steam and electricity
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience leading a team to achieve meaningful results
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to study and write 1st Class exams towards acquiring an Ontario Operating Engineer 1st class certificate 

COMPENSATION:

$90,000-$130,000/year + benefits 

EDUCATION:

Minimum 2nd Class Operating Engineer’s Certificate valid in Ontario
