THE OPPORTUNITY:

Experiencing explosive growth due to their focus on providing technical excellence and exemplary customer service while also maintaining a friendly, collegial and nurturing work environment for their employees, they are currently seeking a regular full-time Ocean Import Specialist who is experienced at coordinating and handling the incoming ocean freight shipments for the division. The effective and efficient handling of these shipments has to ensure continuous cargo flow while at the same time respecting company policies and objectives.  

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The Ocean Import Specialist assumes the following main responsibilities:

  • Handling ocean import freight files
  • Shipment delivery arrangements and planning
  • Verification of OBL & payment requirements prior to shipment release
  • Read, monitor and respond promptly to all incoming communications (clients and other business partners – domestic and overseas) in order to properly manage and control daily operational issues
  • Guaranteeing and billing of storage / demurrage for approved accounts
  • Responsible to ensure the approval of supplier’s invoices and verifying overseas affiliate’s remittance on a timely basis
  • Responsible for resolving in a diligent and business efficient manner customer complaints and implement measures to prevent their frequency and recurrence
  • Responsible to resolve internal and operation problems on a diligent and business efficient manner in order to prevent service deficiencies and/or customers’ dissatisfaction
  • Improve on an ongoing basis internal systems and procedures in order to favor customer service and department internal efficiency
  • Complete customer billing
  • Other tasks and duties assigned from time to time 

COMPENSATION

Competitive and comprehensive compensation program commensurate with experience 

Knowledge, Experience and Skills: 

  • Post-Secondary education is required
  • Minimum 5 years’ industry experience preferred
  • Experience in Air Imports is an asset
  • Knowledge of Canadian and US Customs requirements
  • Knowledge of Freight Forwarding / Supply Chain Logistics
  • Knowledge of Ocean Freight Operations
  • Understanding of carriers' service and routing and customer's current shipment, statistical and financial status (Credit)
  • Must be detail oriented and accurate when processing documentation
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, Web based and Job specific software applications is required
  • Good communication skills and customer service oriented.
