THE OPPORTUNITY:

This is an opportunity for a professional looking to take their career to the next level on one of the world’s largest stages. The BDM – Transpacific will be focusing on and primarily developing Ocean Freight between Asia and Canada.  Concentrating on medium-sized Business Customers within a given geography, the BDM will execute a sales strategy to secure new business customers while gathering customer and market information to update Product and Trade Lane on current conditions. This role reports directly to the Director of Business Development. 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  •   Builds rapport and trust with customers by being informed about customer’s business and the market
  •   Assesses the type and scope of client needs
  •   Recommend solutions based on client needs by using industry knowledge
  •   Invite customers to share information on updated regulations, products, etc.
  •   Collect relevant customer information for the RFI/RFP/RFQ and prepare documents for customer implementation in order to ensure proper operational handover and implementation to meet customer expectations

EXPERIENCE:  In order to be COMPETITIVE for this position, you will have:

  • Deep knowledge of 3PL freight products (AFR/OFR).
  • Ideally, Mandarin-speaking, with an established Vancouver market presence/book of business.
  • Minimum 8 years of freight forwarding sales experience preferred.
  • Communication and presentation skills, ideally selling experience in competitive markets.
  • High degree of self-confidence, initiative and commitment.
  • PC literate, excellent organizational, communication incl. telephone and writing skills. 

COMPENSATION:

Our client is offering a competitive and comprehensive package including a base salary, up to 5% matched RRSP contributions, plus a strong benefit package

EDUCATION:

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline and 8 years of experience in related field, particularly international logistics sales
