THE OPPORTUNITY: 

The General Manager, Transport Operations will be responsible for both strategic and tactical managing of the national transport operations, reporting to the President  & CEO. As a member of the senior management team, you will provide effective leadership, coaching and mentorship for the operations team and participate in the overall development of priorities and objectives.  The company is a market leader with a solid reputation for over four decades. POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Provide vision and leadership to deliver growth and safeguard the people, assets and customers, ensuring the operational team complies and adheres to all company and regulatory requirements regarding personnel and safe work environment. 
  • Drive improved service levels, productivity and financial performance using carrier score carding and KPI’s in a manner that encourages the team to take accountability 
  • Deliver process effectiveness and efficiency in a collaborative manner with all departments that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
  • Create a continuous improvement culture to cultivate opportunities, development plans and achievements with consistent format and timelines. 

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of transportation experience.
  • 5- 10 years of general business leadership).
  • University degree , preferred in business management
  • Experience in LTL is preferred
  • Experience leading a team with TMS
  • Adequate computer skills with proficiency in excel, word, outlook and access
  • Must be self-motivated, a passion for people, customer and performance  driven, on a collaborative basis
  • Excels in a fast paced , seasonal environment
  • Excellent communication skills , written and verbal
  • Proven experience in P&L management and budget process
  • Regular travel required (domestic)
