POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Ensure that both we and the companies we work with maintain the highest level of regulatory compliance in all Canadian, US and International Customs transactions.  This position will interact with industry related contacts at a senior management level including senior officials within the government and Customs departments. 

  • Establish and utilize internal controls.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal controls/policies to minimize losses from operational risks.
  • Identify potential business opportunities for the branch through daily operations monitoring
  • Providing on-the-job training, coaching/counseling to staff in document checking/ operations handling, problems solving skills.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with Canadian, US and international customs as well as with all other regulatory authorities to carry out company business
  • Working collaboratively with the sales team, you will provide clients with advice and support regarding customs programs that may work to their benefit.
  • Keep the company and clients abreast of trends and developments related to customs compliance issues.
  • Prepare periodic newsletters, alerts and other information.
  • Develop SOPs specific to individual clients intended to complement, the main SOPs and work practices.
  • Arrange and deliver periodic training seminars.
  • Inform management of any industry changes, developments and trends or incidents that may impact the organization’s ability to conform or comply with rules and regulations and/or that may result in financial penalties or losses.
  • Secure and maintain all the necessary Canadian customs bonds, guarantees and licenses (including renewals), as well as all other licenses and permits from Canadian, US and international regulatory authorities. 

COMPENSATION:

Competitive and comprehensive compensation plan commensurate upon experience and qualifications.

EDUCATION:

  • Post Graduate Diploma / Degree
  • CCS, CTCS or other related certifications
  • LCB, Customs Brokerage Professional License is an asset
