THE OPPORTUNITY:

This position is located in Saint John New Brunswick. The Saint John operation is looking for an energetic and highly motivated senior leader for their Rail Services Department. This exclusive rail provides connections from the Maritimes provinces to the northeast United States markets, our client offers complete and reliable logistic and transportation solutions.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Serve as an essential senior member of the management team for this department.
  • Lead and grow the Rail Services business for Maritimes provinces and northeast United States markets.
  • Promote operational excellence, continuous improvement, safe operations, optimization and teamwork.
  • Responsible for all project management activities. Develop job analysis, cost controls, forecasts and review of other expenses as needed.
  • Responsible for annual strategic and budget planning process for this department.
  • Lead, develop, mentor and motivate team to ensure the highest level of productivity is met.
  • Promote safe work environment activities for all employees.
  • Communicate company policies, compliance to regulatory requirements and rectify safety concerns.
  • Develop, implement and manage performance targets, teamwork, leadership and teamwork building activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Engineering field from an accredited post-secondary educational institution.
  • MBA holder is an asset.
  • Railroad industry experience (or another regulated industry) in operations or safety would be an asset.
  • Must possess excellent communication and negotiation skills with a focus on providing a well-maintained safety culture.
  • The ability to lead a team with mutual respect, teamwork, continuous improvement mindset and a passion for safety.
  • The ability to develop, motivates, and fosters positive relationships with the team, other supervisors/managers and customers.
  • Must offer the proven ability to be well organized, able to manage deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong computer skills are essential.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven 5-10 years’ leadership experience in a similar role would be preferred.
  • Railroad or Transportation experience would be a great asset.
