POSITION TITLE:

3PL INTERMODAL OPERATIONS MANAGER

COMPENSATION:

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Our client has an exciting opportunity within the Intermodal Department as 3PL Intermodal Operations Manager located in Mississauga. Reporting to the Director of Logistics, the 3PL Intermodal Operations Manager is responsible for working closely with all Intermodal North American Class 1 railroads, drayage and supporting agents as well as acting as the internal point of contact for the sales team. This role will also contribute to the sales and marketing growth plans and be responsible for the development and growth of the fulfillment of the Intermodal division.

EXPERIENCE:  In order to be COMPETITIVE for this position, you will have:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5+ years’ experience within the Freight Brokerage or Transportation/3PL Industry.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have a hands on leadership style to manage and promote the Intermodal Product within the company. The successful candidate must have the following skills and abilities but not limited to:

-Proactively reviews with customer onboarding information accuracy; knows customer contract terms.
-Continuously works to eliminate accessorial charges to provide a more seamless customer experience.
-Determines the most cost effective way to move a shipment in a timely manner.
-Understands the quote, the equipment required and the costs for the order.
-Understands and applies information relating to shipment, shipment status, delivery appointments and additional charges including:

-Customer Terms.
-REZ1 Policy.
-Celtic International requirements, policies and procedures.
-Hazardous Materials Load Process.
-High Value Loads Process.

Manages execution teams consisting of the following:

FULFILLMENT:

-Determine and secure most profitable equipment type.
-Schedule pick up appointments.
-Dispatch origin carrier.
-Communicate with carriers, customers, and railroads.
-Manage pools of equipment.
-Ensure loads go into the railroad. 

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

-Daily tracing of loads.
-Schedule delivery appointments.
-Dispatch destination carrier.
-Communicate with carriers, customers, and railroads.
-Ensure termination of empty equipment. 

Build internal relationships with Sales and other Pricing departments.
Build external relationships with Vendors; Railroads Sales and Marketing teams, Drayage companies, Trans-load and execution/fulfillment technology suppliers.

OTHER ATTRIBUTES:

-Previous experience in managing a team of Cost Analysts and provide direction, coaching, recognition, etc. to achieve department and corporate strategy and goals.
-Assist new business pricing in bid tool creation and development.
-Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
-Very strong technical skills (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) with proven ability to synthesize multiple data sources to develop insights and strategy recommendations.
-Ability to work independently.
-Excellent communication and organizational skills.
-Ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude.
-Ability to work in a face paced and demanding environment.
