THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Ocean manager is a key member of the company, responsible for the product’s contribution to the achievement of company goals and objectives.  This individual plays an important role in business growth and the smooth and efficient operations of the ocean freight department.  The Manager supports and contributes to sales activity.  This position reports to the Branch Manager.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

-Strive to be the best Ocean cargo service provider in the Vancouver market.
-Provide pro-active customer service for all ocean freight clients.
-Manage ocean freight division to run smoothly and according to company policy.
-Ensure timely and accurate processing with overseas ocean export/import clearance activities.
-Ensure the management of shipments and the processing of documentation in accordance with Canadian and International laws/regulations governing the shipment, receipt and documentation of exported/imported products.
-Negotiate pricing with shipping lines and carriers.
-Organize the department to meet client expectations and ensure excellent customer service.
-Work with the sales department to expand the business, promoting sales activity to achieve and exceed revenue and profit targets.
-Identify, investigate, resolve and/or report problems or complaints.
-Prepare and present financial reports.
-Manage administrative tasks in a timely fashion.
-Provide support, training, feedback and performance evaluations to all team members.

EXPERIENCE:

-3-5 years of experience in a leadership role.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Excellent customer management skills.
-Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate the team.
-Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
-Good networking, interpersonal and organizational skills.
-Have the ability to remain calm in stressful situations, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
