THE OPPORTUNITY:

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Use standard processes and best practices to coordinate HR initiatives with operational objectives.
  • Partner with site operations leaders to implement positive employee relations programs.
  • Create and implement strategies to attract and retain top talent.
  • Help define roles and responsibilities.
  • Partner with management in organizing department organization and staff duties.
  • Lead staffing and recruitment activities.
  • Lead the direct hiring for production team members.
  • Partner with temporary agencies for the hourly recruitment process.
  • Oversee full-cycle recruitment for salaried staff.
  • Process candidate background checks, offer letters, and new hire paperwork as required.
  • Manage employee leaves of absence and unemployment claims as required.
  • Create a safe work environment and ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Handle employee relations issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Serve as advocate to employee and company regarding policies, employee performance, work environment and conflict issues.
  • Develop and maintain employee policies, procedures and practices.
  • Oversee company and employee recognition events.
  • Conduct new hire orientation.
  • Partner with Plant management to track attendance and corrective actions with appropriate documentation.
  • Lead training and development on-site including: onboarding, performance and review processes, succession development, skilled training programs, leadership development programs.
  • Manage the corrective action process, uphold company values, and ensure a fair and consistent approach to employee relations is realized.
  • Administer compensation programs by ensuring quality performance appraisals are completed.
  • Support the Corporate Director of Compensation and Benefits by responding to employee benefit inquiries.
  • Support the Corporate Office in developing and maintaining HR policies and programs.
  • Support other plants outside the regions on HR projects as required.
  • Develop and manage direct reports by conducting performance appraisals, staff development activities, and counselling staff.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources.
  • 15 years of experience in a HR capacity.
  • 5 or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience in Manufacturing required.
  • Strong experience with HRIS systems (preferably Workday).
  • Strong Project Management experience preferred.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Multi-task with good organizational skills.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of provincial and federal laws related to HR.
  • High-level interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Passionate about HR process improvement and efficiency.
  • Adept at talent management and retention.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 15 years of experience in a HR capacity.
  • 5 or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience in Manufacturing required.
  • Strong experience with HRIS systems (preferably Workday).
