COMPENSATION:

$55,000-$60,000/annual salary, plus excellent additional perks and benefits

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The position of Logistics & Customs Coordinator is vital to the overall success of the company, ensuring the transportation of freight from suppliers and to customers is coordinated in a timely and cost effective manner. As the Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, while selecting the most effective mode of transportation for movement of goods and supplies throughout Canada, USA and overseas. This may include the coordination of ocean, air, ground, courier and intermodal transportation.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

In this role your responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:

  • Working with internal teams to asses and coordinate freight needs and tackle any issues with inbound and outbound shipments
  • Responsible for the freight administration activity these include claims, approval of freight bills, spot quotes, ad hoc freight lane analysis, tracking, PODS and other freight analytics
  • Working with the operations team on quality issues affecting shipment integrity and resolving freight claims
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound freight
  • Maintain provider scorecards
  • Liaise with 3PL's, Custom Brokers and Freight forwarders
  • Negotiating FCL, LCL, FTL and LTL rates for import and domestic shipments, and negotiating contracts with brokers and freight forwarders
  • Keeping track of carrier rates
  • Auditing invoices from carriers, custom brokers and courier companies
  • Overseeing all administration, i.e. Customs forms, approving freight bills, etc.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 + years' experience in freight management
  • Experience working for a large company but also a small company, with the ability to implement processes and structure, working in a fast paced environment, but be comfortable taking on menial tasks when need be
  • Experience working with a manufacturer or distributor in a logistics/freight forwarding capacity
  • Experience coordinating ocean, ground, air, and intermodal shipments
  • Experience coordinating FCL, LCL, FTL and LTL shipments

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 + years' experience in freight management
  • Undergraduate degree in Operations Management
  • Professional Logistician (PLog) or Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) certification
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
