POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Manager - Project Engineering demonstrates and leads through their proven abilities, overseeing the successful and effective delivery of projects. Leading a team of project managers and experienced engineers, you will drive project management through to successful fruition. As you likely know already, this includes gaining a comprehensive understanding of project scope, budget, specification and schedule. All in the spirit of establishing a clear expectation with the organization's clients, and above all else, delivering on the project and the promise.

To be successful in this important role, you will take overall responsibility for ensuring that projects are managed and delivered effectively; are consistent with company policies and procedures, and for driving cost savings and margin improvements.

You will operate out of Toronto, ON and with travel within Canada and to the U.S., Mexico and possibly South America.

Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Management of project managers and engineers
  • Recruitment, development and performance management
  • Allocation and resourcing of projects
  • Contract reviews of schedule, technical details and commercial terms
  • Managing progresses of activities and key milestones for project execution in accordance with company processes and procedures
  • Ensure compliance to applicable legislation, regulation and standards
  • Change management
  • Project close out reviews and lessons learned
  • Operations forecasting and planning
  • Internal reporting to management

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the HVAC construction or related industry
  • Minimum 5 years of construction project management experience
  • Experience with complex projects


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experienced in the application of project management disciplines to manage project budget, schedule quality and stakeholder satisfaction
  • Possesses project team leadership ability and a team building attitude
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • Effectively communicates and reports relevant project information to management
  • Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information clearly and tactfully
  • Resolves and/or escalates project issues in a timely fashion
  • Possesses strong understanding in the area of HVAC
  • Strong proficiency with the MS Office Suite and MS Project
  • Strong knowledge of the terms and conditions of contracts (liabilities, payment, lien rights, shipping, insurance etc.)
  • Ability to travel within Canada, the United States of America, and Mexico and South America
